Biography
Mary Martha Guy was born in Toronto in 1936, moving to Montreal in 1946 with her family.
In the early 50's, she studied Fine Art and History at McGill University, graduating in
1957 with a BA with Distinction. After marrying Jean-Eudes Guy, a young architect, she
spent two years in New York City studying at the Art Students League, while her husband did a
Masters in Architecture at Columbia University. For three years in the late 70's, Mary Martha
taught drawing at the Visual Arts Centre in Westmount. In 1988 she graduated from Concordia
University with a BFA.
Starting in 1970, Guy has exhibited her paintings and drawings in solo and group exhibitions in
Montreal, Kingston, Lennoxville, Sutton and North Hatley. She continues to live in Montreal
with Jean-Eudes, near her son and grandchildren.
Guy's work is represented in the collections of the Musee des Beaux Arts de Sherbrooke, City
of Pointe Claire, McGill University, Pratt and Whitney, Thomas More Institute, Heochst Canada,
as well as private collections in Canada, the United States, England, France and Spain.

Née à Toronto en 1936, Mary Martha Guy déménage a Montreal en 1946 avec sa famille. Pendant les annees 50, elle fait a l'Université McGill des études de peinture et d'histoire, et obtient son B.A. avec distinction en 1957. Ayant épousé Jean-Eudes Guy, un jeune architecte, elle vit pendant deux ans en New York, étudiant à la Arts Students League alors que son mari prépare un Masters in Architecture à l'Universite Columbia. Au cours des annees 70, elle donne des cours de dessin pendant trois ans au Centre des Arts Visuels a Westmount. En 1988 elle obtient son BFA a l'Universite Concordia.
Des 1970, Guy présente ses toiles et ses dessins dans des expositions solo et en groupe, a Montreal, Kingston, Lennoxville, Sutton et North Hatley. Elle réside a Montréal avec Jean-Eudes, près de son fils et ses petits-enfants.
Les oeuvres de Guy font partie des collections suivantes: Musée des Beaux-Arts de Sherbrooke, Universite McGill, Ville de Pointe Claire, Institut Thomas More, Pratt and Whitney, Hoechst Canada, et elles figurent aussi dans les collections particulieres au Canada, aux Etats-Unis, en Angleterre, France et Espagne.
